Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Occupational Therapist to provide inpatient care in a hospital-based setting. The ideal candidate will have experience working with high-acuity patient populations and demonstrate strong clinical judgment, timely documentation, and effective interdisciplinary collaboration. Candidates with experience in ICU, Step-Down, or Cardiac units are highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain acceptable visit productivity standards in an inpatient environment
  • Complete clinical documentation within established timeframes and submit within 24 hours
  • Document skilled occupational therapy interventions in compliance with regulatory and payer guidelines
  • Evaluate, treat, and educate inpatient populations using age-appropriate and culturally sensitive methods
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, case managers, aides, and interdisciplinary team members
  • Demonstrate strong interdisciplinary communication and care coordination
  • Utilize therapy aides appropriately in the delivery of patient care
  • Act as a preceptor and assist with orientation of new staff and students as needed
  • Maintain a safe environment for patients, families, and staff
  • Demonstrate knowledge of safety standards and infection control practices
  • Educate patients and families, assess understanding, and revise care plans as needed

Required Qualifications

  • Active New Jersey Occupational Therapist (OT) License
  • Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of inpatient occupational therapy experience
  • Experience with high-acuity patients , including ICU, Step-Down, or Cardiac units
  • Prior hospital-based or acute care experience
